Soludo rescues Nigeria’s ex-Tennis champion

Anambra state Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, Sunday, rescued the mentally challenged Nigerian Tennis Champion, Ms Tania Okpalanyegbu (Okpala), from the streets of Awka.

Okpala, who represented Nigeria in the world of Tennis along with her sister, Katya in the 1990s, was spotted in a viral video complaining of been homeless, sexually abused and discriminated against as half-caste.

A source who lived close to her stated that she needed necessary rehabilitation and job before being reunited with her family as her ill health had made her hostile to her little daughter and other family members.

Governor Soludo, who announced her rescuing on his official Facebook page, said she was currently in the custody of the Anambra state government, adding that she would be rehabilitated accordingly.

“She was with the Commissioner for Women Affairs when my wife spoke with her on the phone. My government will ensure her rehabilitation and fruitful reunion with her daughter and family,” Soludo added.
