Lagos-Calabar Highway: Leave Seyi Tinubu out of your criticisms, Igbo union replies Atiku

The Igbo Union (IU) also known as Nzuko Ndi Igbo, has described as unnecessary the criticisms by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the award of contract of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project.

The former Vice President and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had condemned the contract awarded to Chagoury due to the membership of Seyi, Tinubu’s son, of  the company’s board.

But in a statement on Thursday, President of the Igbo Union, Prince Elias Odoemena, described the attacks on the first family as “unnecessary”.

He said Atiku Abubakar’s constructive criticisms should be channeled to the inhuman treatment the Lagos state government has meted to the Igbo ethnic stock living in Lagos since the commencement of Mr Babajide Sanwo- Olu’s second tenure as the governor of the state.

Prince Odoemena recalled a similar development when Atiku put his son on the management of Intel Organisation and many kicked against it then while the majority of Nigerians defended the Atikus.

“What Nigerians are expecting from Atiku Abubakar now is to condemn in totality the inhuman treatment  Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is giving to Igbos in Lagos since his second tenure as the Executive Governor of Lagos state.

“We expect a person in Atiku Abubakar’s caliber to call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to caution Sanwolu to stop the maltreatment to Igbos in Lagos who have contributed much in the development of Lagos in particular and Nigeria in general.”

Prince Odoemena also said that Nigerians also expect the Waziri Adamawa to tell President Tinubu to stop the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)  from collecting the newly introduced Cyber crime tax from already impoverished Nigerians.

Odoemena further said that instead of Atiku dissipating energy on Seyi Tinubu’s involvement in Chagoury, he could advise President Tinubu to stop the Cooperate Affairs Commission (CAC) from further de-registering Companies who failed to pay their fees because of the economic of  Nigeria.
