These are not the best of times for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the national and state levels with internal divisions, factional struggles and anti-party activities threatening to tear the party apart.
Nowhere is this dismal scenario more prevalent than in Edo State where the former deputy governor, Comrade Phillip Shuaibu has been impeached by the House of Assembly leaving many of his supporters spoiling for a fight with the Governor Andrew Obaseki led camp. One of the options open to the Shuaibu camp is to work for the defeat of the PDP in the upcoming guber polls given the palpable discontent caused by the perceived shabby treatment meted out to the former deputy governor by his erstwhile allies in the party.
A woeful defeat of the PDP will be a well calibrated wake up call for the Obaseki camp, exposing their monumental folly in marginalizing the Phillip Shuaibu camp even after the crucial role it played in the PDP’s electoral victory four years ago. And if the PDP dissidents go the whole hog in backing the APC, this will be good news for the peace-loving citizens of Edo State given the impeccable leadership credentials of the APC gubernatorial candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the widely acclaimed Akpakomiza of Esanland.
Having won the March 2023 National Assembly elections for Edo Central Senatorial Zone by a cascading landslide that sent his opponents scampering for cover, the resolute Senator Okpebholo is set to repeat this awesome feat by taking the PDP henchmen to the cleaners once again. This time around, his unassailable victory will enable the People’s Senator now Executive Governor to implement his grassroots-oriented agenda for the benefit of teeming Edolites groaning under the crass ineptitude, collosal mismanagement and gross incompetence of the Obaseki- led PDP administration. Senator Monday Okpebholo is well prepared from day one of his inauguration to take Edo State to the next level in the crucial scheme of things. His concrete plan of action is tailor made to move Edo State out of the woods and re-launch it into the league of star performing economies of the global comity of states and nations.
As a renowned corporate mogul of intercontinental dimensions, Senator Monday Okpebholo has traversed the length and breath of the globe investing in men, materials and resources. He has transformed whole companies, industries and conglomerates into profitable and employment generating entities and is poised to turn his beloved state into an Eldorado of the Tropics, no more, no less.
The Distinguished Senator will make positive waves in the roads, health, education, clean water provision, rural and urban infrastructure, transportation, housing, power, manpower development and youth and women empowerment sectors. The iron-willed Senator Okpebholo will no doubt wield the big stick in weeding out corrupt, incompetent and morally bankrupt public officers from the system in line with his total commitment to the hallowed tenets of probity, sanity, transparency, accountability, due process and the rule of law. With the foregoing and much more goodies in store for the teeming Edolites under the Senator Monday Okpebholo’s dynamic leadership, the PDP Shuaibu loyalists will do well to join the fast moving APC gubernatorial bandwagon in order to be part of the famed Akpakomiza’s New Dawn sweeping The Heartbeat of the Nation.
