Bauchi governor trains aides on protocol, etiquette, best practices

The Bauchi state government in collaboration with A&B Executive Protocol Consultants Limited, Thursday, commenced a one-week intensive training programme on protocol, etiquette and best practices for protocol officers and senior government officials.

Declaring the training open at the Banquet Hall, Government House Bauchi, Governor Bala Mohammed stated that the training is aimed at enhancing the capacity of carefully selected government officials in order to render better services to the state in the area of protocol etiquette and best practices.

Represented by his deputy, Auwal Jatau, the governor said the need to observe protocol, etiquette and best practices in the conduct of government business cannot be overemphasized, especially when such activities involve high ranking government officials.

According to him, there is need for conducive atmosphere which entails orderliness, decorum and civility, emphasizing the need to have people who are knowledgeable in the art of protocol to ensure successful conduct of state functions.

“In our determination to have a knowledge- driven public service, we have placed high premium on capacity building and human capital development through training and retraining of both political appointees and civil servants. Consequently, since the inception of our administration in 2019, we have embarked on training of various cadres of public officers. Some of the trainings conducted include a workshop for commissioners, permanent secretaries and other accounting officers on salary Administration, training on routine office procedure for selected officers and course on speech writing conducted by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), the cost of which was borne by the state government.”

Governor Bala expressed confidence that the training will afford participants the opportunity to identify their weak spots that requires improvement for effective discharge of their official responsibilities and assured that his administration will not relent in its efforts to frontally address the challenges of service delivery to the good people of the state within available resources.
