Bandits invade Zamfara community, kill many, rustle animals

Bandits numbering over 50 have launched a fresh attack on Dadah village in Zurmi local government area of Zamfara state Friday evening, and killed many people.

They also rustled unaccounted animals.

A resident of the area identified as Malam Dayyib Ibrahim in a Telephone interview with Blueprint said the Bandits invaded their village on motorcycles at around 5:00 pm of on Friday, spent over two hours carrying out their operations uninterruptedly.

He said many of their people have been killed by the Bandits while trying to run out of the village for their safety.

“The bandits when they came to our village began shooting sporadically on the communities in which they took more than two hours carrying out their babaric acts without any hitch.

“As I am talking to you now, we can not precisely ascertain how many people we lost but so far we got over 10 household men who were killed and we shall go to the nearby bush and search for our dead people,” Dayyib Ibrahim stated.

According to him, the bandits made away with many animals belonging to them during the attack.

“It was due to military personnel quick response, the Bandits run away to the bush, if not because of their presence, these dreaded group of Bandits could have illuminated us all within a few hours because they came with supisticated weapons,” he said.

However, efforts to reach the state police command public relations officer Sp Muhammad Shehu proved abortive as all his telephone numbers were switched off as at the time of compiling the report.

Meanwhile, Zamfara state government under the leadership of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle had earlier last year introduced a peace dialogue with Bandits but some of them were said to have refused to repent and cooperate with the state government in its effort to ensure a return of a relative peace.
