FG will spare nothing to equip troops – Moro

The federal government has said that no amount of money would be too much in acquiring modern equipment that would enhance the protection and safety of soldiers in conflict zones the country.

Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, who gave the assurance in Abuja, said the “advance in terrorism tactics and the unpredictable, shrewd nature of insurgents makes it imperative that advances in military technology should be explored for the proper equipment of combatants.”
Moro told the Ambassador of Finland, Ms. Riitta Korpiovaara, who visited him yesterday “Nigeria will stop at nothing to ensure that its troops are properly kitted with the latest weapons and ammunition as well as the protective gear that would make them less vulnerable to enemy bullets.”

He expressed delight over Finland’s offer to kit Nigerian soldiers to help reduce casualties at the war fronts since it had been discovered that Boko Harm terrorists and other insurgents used advanced weapons, including lethal chemicals in their attacks.
The minister directed paramilitary agencies under his Ministry to liaise with the Finland Embassy in Nigeria for practical demonstrations of the type of kits that “are available and how the equipment work.”

Earlier, the Finnish ambassador said she came to see the minister with her team of experts, including serving military attachés, to offer assistance in line with the cooperation agreement between Finland and Nigeria “for up-to-date protective military gear, especially deflectors of bullets that are meant to enhance the safety and protection of troops at the war fronts.”
