Covid-19: 9,329 Kano, Katsina households get VSF’s 3rd intervention


The Nigerian Foundation for the support of the Victims of Terrorism VSF, Tuesday, disclosed that a total of 9,329 households in Kano and Kastina states benefited from its   3rd phase of the Covid-19 Emergency Task Force intervention.

The Spokesman of the VSF Covid-19 Emergency Task Force, Alkasim Abdulkadir, in a statement sent to Blueprint in Abuja on Tuesday, said the clarification became imperative in view of the erroneous reports in some sections of the media.

Abdulkadir, who stated that 4222 and 5102 households in Katsina and Kano states respectively received food items during the programme, noted that Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) received 50 percent of the food items while the state governments received 50 percent for distribution to the vulnerable people in each beneficiary state.

He said: “ The Task Force is concerned about the public being misinformed and would like to reiterate in the interest of transparency that the actual number of households that received food items in Katsina State is 4222 and 5102 in Kano state.

The VSF Covid-19 Emergency Task Force spokesman, who said the 3rd phase of the intervention was necessitated by the pervasiveness of the Corona Virus and hardship across the country, reiterated the team’s commitment to work with CSOs and the state government to bring succour to the underprivileged and disadvantaged communities.   

“The VSF Emergency Task Force on Covid-19 remains committed to working with indigenous CSOs as well as state governments to provide food and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE’s) in underprivileged and disadvantaged communities’’, he said.
