We’re ready for elections – Ondo INEC 

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security operatives in Ondo state Tuesday said they are ready for the presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled to hold this weekend and next week.

The acting head of INEC in the state, Mr. Oyekola Oyelami, said the commission has employed 17,562 ad-hoc personnel to serve in various capacities across the 3,933 polling units in 18 local government areas of the state.

He added a that nothing less than 1.7million Permanent Voters Card (PVC) have been collected, while 303,000 PVCs are awaiting collection.

Speaking after a close- door meeting with INEC and other security agencies in the state, Ondo Commissioner of Police, Oyeyemi Oyediran, said nothing less than 7,000 combined security personnel will be on ground for the Saturday elections.

Oyediran assured of readiness of all the security agencies at giving adequate security before, during and after the elections.

The police commissioner who spoke on behalf of other security chiefs promised a peaceful election, while warning against thuggry and associated vices.

He said security agents will frown at any activity capable of undermining security before, during and after the polls.  He called on the people to maintain orderliness.
