Niger signs N556km road construction contract

The Niger state government has signed a contract agreement with a private consultancy firm, BENIJ Nigeria Limited, to provide consultancy services to the state government for the construction of 556km of roads across the state.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, stated this in a statement issued in Minna weekend.

He said the signing of the agreement held in Abuja is in line with the Urban Renewal Policy of Governor Muhammed Umaru Bago- led administration.

The SSG said, “the state struggles with an infrastructural deficit exceeding over 70%, with its road network standing at the core of the challenge, for Niger state to achieve sustainable economic growth, developing a good road network is key to achieving the goals.”

He said more road projects are expected to be carried out pointing out that this is the first phase of the projects.

In a remark at the event, the lead consultant, BENIJ Nigeria Limited, Olatunji Ajayi, re-assured Niger state government of its full fledged support in providing the much needed expertise that will ensure quality is attained on the project. He added that the firm is to come up with detailed design of the projects within five weeks.
