Woman, 3 children, Okada man die in Osun accident

No fewer than five persons including a woman and her three children have perished in an accident that occurred around Obada market in Ode-omu, Ayedaade local government of Osun state, Saturday.

It was gathered that the accident involved a car with registration number Lagos BDG 481 JD, going to Ibadan from Osogbo and a motorcycle that faced Osogbo, carrying a woman and her four children who were returning from vigil in Ode-omu.

Findings showed that the accident ocurred around 6 in the morning when the motorcyclist simply identified as Abraham was taking the passengers to their house at Oogi after the vigil.

Blueprint gathered that the only child at the back of the woman escaped death among the six of them on the motorcycle.

Investigation showed that people of Ode-omu who saw the incident descended on the passengers of the vehicle and caught two out of three of them, and set them ablaze.

Eyewitness account revealed that “immediately the people saw dead bodies on ground, they came out and started running, but people caught them. The two of them that were caught, were burnt. They were burnt around that Obada River.”

The spokesperson of the police in Osun, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident saying that “Two children were at the front, another one at the middle and another was backed, their mother included on the bike. The children died instantly, including their mother and the bike man. Just one child didn’t die.

 “The driver escaped immediately the accident happened. After much appealing to the angry mob, they set ablaze the remaining two occupants of the vehicle. Later we quenched the fire rescued them and transferred them to a hospital in Osogbo.”
