Gunmen attack palace of Imo monarch again

Gunmen, in the early hours of Sunday razed the palace of the traditional ruler of Ndi Ichie Arondizuogu community in Ideato North local government area of Imo state, Eze Kanu Ikenolu.

The development has caused panic in the community as villagers, including the household of the monarch fled into the bush for safety.

Our correspondent gathered that on arrival, the attackers threw explosives into the monarch’s palace which led to the burning of the house and other properties in the compound, including vehicles, all amounting to millions of naira.

It was gathered that the villagers decried the inability of police operatives to respond on time when they were alerted about the attack.

However, the Imo Police command’s spokesman, ASP Henry Okoye, has confirmed the attack. He stated that efforts were on top gear to arrest the arsonists and bring them to book.
