A new chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has emerged in Nasarawa state chapter.
Confirming the development yesterday at the Government House, Lafia, the chairman of the new Congress, Comrade Abdullahi Adeka, said the “emergence of the new NLC in the state” was aimed at liberating the poor masses
It would be recalled that on Friday, last week, civil servants in the state passed a vote of no confidence on the NLC chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Adeka.

Adeka said the New NLC was ready to give the state government the needed support and loyalty at any given time “so that it can succeed in piloting the affairs of the state.”
According to him, “we are now ever ready than before to partner with you throughout the remainder of your two years in office.”

He said the decision to suspend strike in the state was “simply because of the poor masses and several appeals made by some critical stakeholders in the state,” adding that he had no regrets in whatsoever in taking such decision.
“I am not shaken by the decision I took; I took that decision because of the poor masses of Nasarawa,” he said.
However, Adeka appealed to the state government to release the promotion of workers and shortfalls of two months’ salaries.
Appreciating the Labour leaders, Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura maintained that government had resolved to work together with the Labour leaders for the Development of the state.

“Let’s increase our intimacy, friendship and solidarity that we had before, so that we can benefit from it all and far as I am concerned, there is no strike in Nasarawa state.
“I am so happy to note the calibre of leaders we have at the moment; these leaders would take Labour to the next level,” he said.
The governor, therefore, approved the commencement of interview of all workers that were due for promotion, even as he directed the state Head of Service to begin the process of the payment of the shortfalls of November and December salaries.
