Kwara gov names Ayinla new perm sec Ministry of Health

Kwara state governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved the appointment of Dr Ayinla Abubakar Olayiwola as the new Permanent Secretary of the state’s Ministry of Health, a statement said on Thursday.

Dr Olayiwola, an ophthalmologist, replaces Dr (Mrs) Rhoda Ajiboye who recently retired from the Ministry, according to the statement by Rafiu Ajakaye, spokesman of the Governor.

Dr Olayiwola had recently sat and passed the Competency Test and Interview held for various officials who applied for the position of Permanent Secretary in the state’s civil service.

Dr Olayiwola’s appointment comes as Kwara rolls out various measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 — including shutting down of schools and restrictions on worship centres, a directive for civil servants to work from home, and strategic restriction of movement from Friday March 27 to enforce social distancing and eliminate the transmission chain of the virus that has killed thousands globally.

His appointment seeks to further fortify the state’s Ministry of Health which coordinates the government’s response to the global health emergency.

The Kwara State Government will soon fill some other vacancies at the highest echelon of the civil service owing to the recent retirement of some permanent secretaries, the statement added.
