Anambra:  Police arrest tricycle operator, others over robbery, cultism 

The Anambra state Police command, Sunday, announced arrest of a tricycle operator, his four passengers and two others for allegedly engaging in cult and robbery syndicate.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, a Superintendent of Police (SP), who announced this in a statement, also pronounced one Mr Makuo Nwuso (alias Baby)

Ikenga said the suspects were arrested on April 3, 2024 at 10 pm during which a cut-size double barrel gun, one tricycle without a reg number, and some hard drugs were recovered from them.

The suspects included Mr Chukwuemeka Ozoekwe, aged 18; Mr Chidozie Anagor, aged 18; Mr Chukwuemeka Oyeoka, aged 18; Mr Ebuka Okoye, aged 17; Mr Olisa Obi, aged 19; Mr Chidubem Nwakwu, aged 20; and Mr Nwankwo Kosisochukwu. 

” Makuo Nwosu ‘m’ a k a Baby and one other person whose name is yet to be identified are wanted. Police attached to Special Anti-Cult Squad (SPACS) while on patrol at Unizik Junction intercepted all males and five occupants including the driver of a tricycle.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to being members of the Vipers Cult group and they are one of the gangs terrorising Awka metropolis recently. The suspects also confessed that they were on a mission to rob the road users of their phones and personal belongings before the arrest,” he added.
