Kebbi trains 20 disabled persons on craft works

The Kebbi state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, has graduated 20 disabled persons, who had completed their skill acquisition training in tailoring, chair weaving, leather work.
Presenting items and cash donation to the beneficiaries yesterday the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Hajiya Rafa’atu Noma Hammani, said that since the ministry was saddled with their responsibility of make them self reliance and avoid street begging in the societies.
She said that since the creation of the rehabilitation center in Arugugngu, the institution had graduated about 500 disability people in different skills, while some of this trained persons had made remarkable progress in various fields within and outside the state.

The ceremony, which was done alongside with the celebration of the United Nation International Day of Persons with Disability (IDPWDS) 2015, had Hammani further explaining that the UN Day was set aside to  create awareness and enlighten the public on the plight and potentialities of disabled persons.

“The theme of this year celebration is inclusive matters this emphasize the need to include persons with disability in all development programme and activities, such as giving them equal opportunities to education, health, employment, entrepreneurship, housing, among others”, she added.
She then commended the effort of the state government for the support to the less privileged in the state and prompt response to their request concerning the needs of the vulnerable and social welfare institutions in the state.
