Nafisa Abdullah is a Jos-born Kannywood star that has since become a household name in acting emotive roles. She is actually known for shedding tears like crocodile. Much as Nafisa experienced hiatus sometimes last year, as a result of the ban by (AFMAN) and relationship fracas which many have seen it as marking the twilight of her acting career, she still appears not so dispirited. In this interview with IBRAHIM RAMALAN, the ace actress spoke rather acerbically about her determination to not only be world-class actress but also a prolific film producer.
Nafisa it’s been a while, what are you currently working on?
Well, I have just finished a film project produced by Shazali Kamfa and directed Ali Nuhu and am about to start another one this week. I am also working on my film project. Whenever the script becomes ready I will produce my own film. So I will now not only an actress but also a budding producer. I have also just signed my second-year contract with MTN Ambassadorship.
It is always very difficult for a budding producer to produce an A-grade films. What do you think will stand you out as a budding producer?
I think I know everything that comes and goes in the system. I hang around producers and I see a lot of them do things, and with my DIY enthusiasm, I think I hold all the aces to be a good producer. You know, film production takes a hard-work and strong will and determination, all of which I have.
What will we expect from your debut as a producer?
A lot of actions, love, intrigue and all of that.
You won the last year’s MTN best actress award. Are you still eying it this year?
I am hoping to win it this year too. But if am not able to make it, so be it.
Sometimes ago rumour had it that you and and Adam A. Zango were embroiled in a relationship fracas that even ended in a court. Tell us the truth about the whole rumour?
Honestly speaking, I and Zango had a relationship and we were hoping to get married. But you know, as the saying goes: man proposes, God disposes. It did not work out the way we planned it. As regards the rumour that he impregnated me, it is a sheer lie and a mere hare-brained efforts by my detractors to drag my name into the mire which by God’s grace has dismally bungled.
Who are you going out with now?
Honestly, am trying to focus on my work, love aside for now. I have closed the heart because it is too stressful to combine the two together.
Who are your favourite actors and actresses in Kannywood industry?
I don’t have any favourite actor or actress in Kannywood, all actors and actresses are my favourite and I like to feature in with a very good actor or actress that delivers well, no matter who
Can you describe your achievements so far?
I can’t describe how successful I am right now because a lot is still happening. But my biggest achievement is being able to put a smile on a thousand and one faces. Materially also, I can boast of three cars and am planning to buy a house of my own.
Where do you see yourself in the near future?
Hmmm, sky is my limit.
