Gov. Adeleke, fix Muroko-Oke Ibode road

Ademola Adeleke became governor of Osun state on November 27, 2022, after defeating the then incumbent Governor Gbeoyega Oyetola with over 28,000 votes in the governorship election held in July same year. On assuming office, the governor rolled out agenda to reposition the economy, education, health, agriculture, among others.

Recently, he disclosed plans to rehabilitate 345 health centers and start the phase two potable water project in the 332 wards, renovate 31 schools and construct 45 roads across the 30 local government areas of the state, build five flyovers to ease traffic across the state within the next one year, without collecting loans.

However, this has received mixed reactions from the public especially those who believe the projects are more of building a castle in the sky than cutting coat according to the available cloth. Nevertheless, the performance of the governor within one year in office seems to demonstrate his capacity to squeeze water from the rock.

The wonderful projects being executed by some of the local government caretaker committees set up by the government to pilot the affairs of the local government councils across the state has shown that the governor has good people who can transform the state and alleviate the suffering of the people. This necessitates the call for the government to construct the Muroko – Oke Ibode road.

Muroko – Oke Ibode road is a strategic route that serves as food basket gate to Ilesa from many villages and towns at Oke – Awo, Muroko, Oke Ibode, Oke Osin axis. It can also serve as alternative route to Oke Omi iru – Kajola road from Ilesa. It has been abandoned for decades.

Due to the bad road, many farmers have lost their profit to wastage while those that manage to transport their goods to the market are left with little profit because of high transport fare. Transporters plying the road have become regular customers at the automobile shop because of the damage caused by the bad road to their vehicles.

That the people at Isale, along Muroko – Oke Ibode axis, Ilesa are in need of a good road is not in doubt. That is why this anniversary is seen as an opportunity to call the attention of Governor Adeleke to the suffering of pregnant women, children, elderly people, among others, due to the bad road and other things that have eluded the axis. This will renew the hope of the people.
