Covid-19: 253 Nigerians returnees arrive Lagos from UK

A second batch of 253 Nigerian from the United Kingdom arrived at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammad Airport in Lagos Friday at exactly1.45pm.

The returnees were flown into the country via a British Airways aircraft Boeing 747 BA9155 with registration Number G-CIVO.G-CIVO.

Upon arrival at the terminal, the evacuees were kept inside the aircraft for over 30 minutes before they disembarked through a motorised gangway rather than the usual avio-bridge.

They later went through temperature screening conducted by officials of the Port Health services and were led into luxurious buses as they were moved to the isolation centers already prepared for them by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Other governmental bodies at the airport to receive them were officials of the Lagos state government, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and other partners in the evacuation process.

The aircraft also took 215 British nationals from the airport to their country.

On Wednesday, the first batch of 262 Nigerian evacuees was flown into the Lagos airport from Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by an Emirates Airlines.
