Voters’ turnout better than last FCT Area Councils’ elections – INEC chair

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) , Prof  Mahmood Yakubu, has described the chairmen and councilors elections which held today (Saturday ) in Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as peaceful and satisfactory.

Prof Yakubu, who however noted the low voters’ turn out, added that “the turnout for this year was high compared to previous FCT Area Council and Chairmanship elections that recorded 10 percent voters turn out.”

The Chairman who spoke with journalists after his tour of polling units at Asokoro 1(AYA) junction, Maitama primary school, Garki ward and Lugbe primary school said the conduct of the voting exercise was free and devoid of any violence or security agents intimidating voters.
