Leader of Gwagwalada Vigilance Group, Madami Musa, has pleaded with the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to empower the group.
In an interview with Blueprint at the weekend, Musa stated that it had become very imperative for the FCTA to provide members of the group with working tools and monetary allowances, given their level of collaboration with the police in securing lives and properties effectively in the nation’s capital.
According to him, the group relies on donations from individuals to take care of its logistics, and are usually not enough or don’t come regularly.

He said: “We want the FCTA to help with allowances and tools to make us work very well. The way we have been successfully working with the police to maintain security, we deserve empowerment. We rely on donations to work, and they don’t come regularly or are not enough, so we are pleading with the FCTA to come to our aid.”
Musa added that cases of theft and burglary had drastically reduced in the area, because of the activeness of their numbers.
