Prof. Kailani Mohammad: APC today, tomorrow and forever

Nigeria is old enough to achieve a measure of political stability after 69 years of independence including 24 years of uninterrupted democracy. Nigeria is also rich enough to attain economic, socio-political and technological greatness comparable to other developed nations. However, Nigeria’s achievements so far over the years is too little compared to the rate at which it has grown and so it needs altruistic citizens as leaders to help it attain greatness.

The last 60 years saw the nation dangling between poverty of ideas and mediocrity in implementing good ideas. Instead, those years seem to be more of times of retrogression than progression. This thinking indeed brought to the fore of our nation, Professor Kailani Mohammed, an engineer, who believes that if Nigeria must develop, there must be a paradigm shift to a new dawn of a new crack, and a reawakening.

Professor Kailani believes that the Nigeria of his dream is the Nigeria of good policy implementation, good administration, integrity, progress, justice and that of technological advancement and innovations. Prior to the formation of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Professor Kailani was known as a patriot who advocated the formation of a strong political party that will enhance the growth and development of the country.

His concern was that Nigeria of over 60 years was so old, so rich, but too little. And 63 years after independence, the country was so much in search of political stability yet, the hydra heads of instability paint a real possibility of the country running in a circle if nothing was done to stabilise the polity

It is in recognition of the fact that something needed to be done to achieve the political development of the country that Professor Kailani Mohammed worked in tandem with other great political minds to aggregate and form the APC when it became obvious  clear that the the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was not steering the country in the right direction. Prof Kailani Mohammed became the voice for the APC in the grassroots political firmament of the country during the formative stage of the party.

He preached to all who care to listen that the APC will uphold the principles of internal democracy and a national party structure. Kailani has managed so many campaigns in the past and his voice in this dispensation helped the APC to field the best candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the 2023 presidential election. Tinubu subsequently won the election to become Nigeria’s president.

As a voice, Kailani made sure that he campaigned assiduously for President Tinubu because of his conviction that Tinubu is the only one that will bring unmatched integrity to bear in the affairs of the country and therefore can deal decisively with the problems of the country. He set up a campaign organisation independent of the presidential campaign organisation of the party in taking the inspiring message of renewed hope of the party to all the nooks and crannies of the country.

He was able to convince the people at the grassroots that among the plethora of candidates jostling to be president of the country only President Tinubu has the ability to unite the country, build bridges across the North and South and move the nation forward. He became the director general of the Confederation of all APC Support Groups in making the party win the 2023 presidential election for which Tinubu was declared president

Even though he is a frontline member of the APC, Prof Kailani Mohammed is today in the forefront of speaking about topical national issues. Above all is the issue of corruption. For him, if corruption is not dealt with, frontally, Nigeria will be in a terrible mess. Thus, he is holding the party as one of its consciences to make sure those it produces as leaders refrain from paying lip service to corruption.

Prof Kailani’s morality can be transferred into the public life of the country because in our leadership recruitment process we have only been able to locate people for leadership positions who talk about discipline in public arena, but their private lives show a lack of discipline.

Many are of the opinion that it is time we located leaders like Prof Kailani Mohammed who are disciplined both in private and public life as such people are the kind of leaders that Nigeria should be raising up now. Thank God, he is one of such people in the party who for years has been asking questions about people’s antecedents, the kind of values they espouse in the public and whether they tally with what they practice in their private lives in the party before they are considered for appointment

Many today are of the opinion that as an APC man, today, tomorrow and forever he should have been considered for a leadership position because he will bring unmatched integrity to bear in the Affairs of the country and the party in general. He has the moral right to deal firmly with the problem of corruption, ineptitude and mismanagement in the country today.
