Serving Senator speaks on Oyo LG election 


The Chairman, Senate Committee on Electoral Matters, Senator Sharafadeen Alli has declared that the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) was not ready for the Saturday’s local government election in the state. 

Senator Alli, stated this in Ibadan on Saturday while speaking with  journalists at his family compound located at Ward 3, in Ibadan North local government area after endless wait for election materials and OYSIEC officials at his polling unit 

He stressed that the local government election was marred with cases of reports of late arrival of electoral materials in some parts of the state

The Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District said there are lots of abnormalities characterizing the election particularly cases of voters apathy among others.

‘ What happened is an indication that OYSIEC was not prepare for the election” and that there are complains of late arrival of electoral materials in most parts of the state,” he said.

Senator Alli added, “I have had complains from Iseyin, I have had complains from Okeho since yesterday, there was a problem from Ayete yesterday, polling officers are yet to arrive at Idikan Onibata, in ward 4, ward 5 of Ibadan North West local government area, we kept on complaining”. 

“As I am talking, they said they are on their way. When the election is going to close at and they are yet to arrive at It shows that the OYSIEC is not prepared or they are up to some games is one out of the two”. 

Senator Alli said, “Because if by materials are yet to arrive this place which is about 5 to 10 minutes from both the OYSIEC headquarters and Ibadan North local government headquarters, so, what are we talking about. 

“This is ward 3 and this is where I have been voting, last year we were here by this time the election was almost concluded”.
