Police nab 5 over 7 officers’ killing in Abuja

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has said that five suspects had been arrested in connection with the killing of seven policemen on stop-and-search duty at a Roundabout in Galadimawa Area of Abuja.
Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, made the disclosure while fielding questions from journalist on Friday in Suleja, Niger state, after the parade of some suspected criminals.
“As I speak with you, five arrests have been made in respect of the attack and more arrests are being made.
We will ensure that all the perpetrators that were involved in this heinous crime are apprehended,” he said.
Moshood also said the InspectorGeneral of Police (IGP), Mr.
Ibrahim Idris, had ordered that the allowances of the deceased officers be paid to their families, just as the Police boss also directed all formations to beef up security.
The IGP had, on Thursday, set up a special team of specialised investigation detectives, police scene of crime experts and technical intelligence unit, headed by CP Bala Ciroma, to apprehend the killers.
Idris, while inaugurating the investigative team, gave them 21 days to “unravel, arrest and prosecute those responsible for the killing and detect the motives behind the ambush and killing of the officers.” The police implored members of the public with useful information about the killing to reach the team through the following numbers: 08032003913, 08061581938, and 07057337653.
