PINE assists Boko Haram victims

Presidential Initiative for the North East Committee (PINE) inaugurated uin the wake of the Boko Haram insurgency has flagged off another round of free distribution of food items and other relief materials to the people affected by the insurgents’ activities in Adamawa, Borno, Yobe states and other parts of the country.

Speaking at the occasion, the Secretary to the Federal Government, Mr Babacir David Lawal, said the gesture was part of government effort to ameliorate the suffering of the victims.
Babacir, who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant Policy/Strategy to the President, Alhaji Ibrahim Bapetel, assured victims of government commitment to their welfare.
He lauded Adamawa government, the international community and other organisations like NEMA and the Red Cross for their support in resettling the victims.

“I also want to commend to the military and security agencies for the contributions,” he said.
Speaking at the occasion, Adamawa state Deputy Governor, Mr. Martins Babale, lauded the federal government for the support and urged the victims not to sale the relief materials.
Babale, who was represented by the Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmad Sajoh, urged the public, particularly the press, to help government in tracking the materials by ensure the get to the victims.
