It was confusion galore as a building apartment within the Palace of the Ooni of Ife was engulfed in a late Friday fire inferno.
According to a statement by the Director, Media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, Otunba Moses Olafare, the incident which occured at about 11:30pm was reportedly triggered by power surge which exploded through electrical appliances in the affected apartment.
Otunba Olafare in the statement stressed there was “no casualties, no injuries recorded and no cultural items lost” in the inferno.
He said that “the inferno did not spread beyond the affected building located at a section of the palace premises as it was swiftly put off through the combined efforts of the Government Fire Service, OAU Fire Service and Palace Emergency Control Unit”.
“A building apartment within the courtyard of the Palace Of The Ooni Of Ife was at about 11:30pm yesterday engulfed in flames of fire incident triggered by power surge which exploded through electrical appliances in the affected apartment”, he said.
“No casualties, No injuries recorded, No cultural items lost Thanks to the Almighty Olodumare.”
