Chairman, Northern Governor’s Forum, Kashim Shettima, who is also the Borno state governor, has said that if there is peace in the northern part of Nigeria, the entire country will be peaceful.
He described Benue state as the heartbeat of the northern politics insisting that once the state decides to go different from the entire north, the north will no longer have it
smooth in the political equation.

Shetima, who was in Benue state yesterday along with his counterparts, Abdulahi Gunduje of Kano and Barr. Muhammed Abubakar of Bauchi states, felicitated with the Tiv nation for selecting a new Tor Tiv.
Pointing out the unprecedented magnanimity of the Benue people and especially the Tiv people, Shetima stated amongst other things, that “while announcement of results for 2015 elections were ongoing, I was keenly watching to see what will come out from Benue and Plateau. The moment I saw that we have won in Benue, I started singing that Nigeria would ever remain a unified one nation”.
Governor Ortom while responding decried the high wage bill of the state which he said is not less than N7.8bn monthly.
