Oyo: Report suspicious activities to Police, CP tells citizens

The Oyo state Commissioner of Police, CP Adebola Hamzat, has tasked the people of the state to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the Police.

CP Hamzat gave the task Monday while receiving the state Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, into his office during a fact-finding courtesy call.

The Commissioner of Police, who said this can be done by calling the emergency number 615 in case of emergency, stated that the  state government has set a record  to protect her citizens.

CP Hamzat said Governor Makinde has provided adequate support in strengthening the security architecture in the state with the donation of 120 vehicles, the provision of modern day communication gadgets and personal motivation for the officers and men of the command.

CP Hamzat pointed out that the modern day gadgets procured for the Police by Gov. Makinde has enabled him and other senior colleagues to monitor happenings in Oyo state from any part of the federation.

Stating that in all the eight states where he had served as CP, none is as peaceful as Oyo, CP Hamzat noted that community policing has been highly successful to combat crime in the state because the governor gives policemen extra incentives apart from their regular salaries, while the populace is generally happy to cooperate with the Police.

CP Hamzat stated that the current administration in Oyo state is in the good books of police hierarchy throughout Nigeria because of the successful hosting of over 4,000 policemen during the 2024 Police Games which held in Ibadan early in the year.
