One party system not good for Nigeria but… – Ganduje

Kano state Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has said that one party system is not good for the country, adding, however, that “if such will replicate what the All Progressives Congress (APC) is doing at the center, it can be.”
Ganduje, who was nominated to lead a national campaign team of APC to Rivers state ahead of forthcoming re-run elections, said it was difficult for just one political party to dominate the country.
The governor, who spoke to the media after the inauguration of his committee, said that the victory recorded by APC recently in Edo and Ondo state was as result of the party being well established with committed members.

When asked about his opinion on the possibility of the country becoming a one- party state, he said: “A one party system is not good for this country, but if one party system will evolve in appreciation of what the central government is doing, let it be. But I know that it is difficult.”
According to him, Rivers state is a difficult terrain to win elections.

“We won the elections in Edo and Ondo states. It showed that APC, as a party, is a well-established party and having well-committed members. We are great planners and we have the backing of the national headquarters of the party. Those who were involved in those elections were great planners and people are appreciating what is happening at the national level and what the governors are doing.
“In Ondo state, however, people are not appreciating what the state government was doing and people wanted a change and change has come. We shall strategise for Rivers election because we know it is a difficult terrain.”
Other members of the Rivers legislative re-run elections are: Plateau state Governor, Simon Lalong, Ogun state, Ibukunle Amosun, Oyo state, Sen. Ajimobe, former Governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole, and former Managing Director of NDDC, Timi Alaibe.
