NPFL: Lobi Stars pip Abia Warriors, 3SC cage Akwa United as pressure piles on Osho

Nigeria Premier Football League side, Lobi Stars of Makurdi has  extended their unbeaten streak in the NPFL this season courtesy of a 2-0 win against Abia Warriors on Sunday at the Lafia Township Stadium.

Liman Amadou gave the hosts the lead in the 15th minute.

Midfielder Alao Danbani added the second 10 minutes later.

The Makurdi club top the standings with eight points from four games.

Seven-time champions Rangers moved to second position after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Kwara United in Ilorin.

Kazeem Ogunleye put Rangers ahead four minutes after the half hour mark.

Kwara United fought back with Alao Mohamed netting the equaliser on 54 minutes.

At the Eket Stadium, Shooting Stars held Akwa United to a 0-0 draw.

Akwa United are winless this season with pressure mounting on head coach of the team Fatai Osho, while Shooting Stars picked their first away point of the campaign.

In the battle of former champions, Kano Pillars edged out Rivers United 1-0 with Rabiu Ali netting the winning goal two minutes into stoppage time.

At the Pantami Township Stadium, Gombe United defeated Bendel Insurance 1-0. Ahmed Jimoh scored the decisive goal on 51 minutes.
