Best Brain Concept, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) has organised a mathematics competition for Junior Secondary School students in Kuje with the aim of catching them young in the subject.

Six junior secondary schools in Kuje participated in the first edition of the mathematics competition at the Kuje Town Hall.
Speaking at the competition, the CEO of the organisation Mr. Jude Numfor said the essence of the competition was to encourage students to be lovers of mathematics for nation building.
“From our past experience, we have discovered that the JSS1 & JSS2 students in the area do not have the opportunity to represent their schools in mathematics competition.
We decided to introduce a concept to give them an opportunity to showcase their talents in mathematics for nation building.
In the next edition we intend to extend the competition to various Junior Secondary Schools in the Federal Capital Territory, Numfor said.

Mr. Jude Isitua, the executive and organizer of the competition said the competition is designed to give students a practical knowledge of mathematics sciences by making them less abstract.
Isitua said: “Our main target is to catch the students young and at later stage encourage them to be independent learners. If you catch them young at the level of JSS1 & JSS2 by the time they get to the senior class, mathematics becomes very easy.
He disclosed that StarTimes was the major sponsor, “but if the government can intervene we can take it to the primary school level.’’

Blueprint gathered that SS Simon and Jude Minor Seminary School, Kuje took first position in the mathematics competition and went home with a plasma TV.
Government Secondary School Kuje came second and Aflon Digital Academy Kuje came third, carting home a StarTimes decoder, each as their prizes.
