Law Students Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN), National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Kaduna study centre at its law week 2014 has said that national transformation agenda of federal government was possible if law as an instrument of social change was properly employed by Nigerian society.
Speaking on the topic, ‘National Transformation: The imperative of the legal profession and legal law’, the former Head, Department of Commercial Law, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Dr. Andrew Akume, said national transformation could be achieved by changing the political, social and economic spheres of the country to standards obtained in countries considered developed or civilised, which must be carried out within a legitimate or lawful legal order.

He said people must be ready to be open to change before any form of national transformation could be achieved, noting that people were generally resistant to change once they had settled for a status quo.
He said: “National transformation agenda is possible in various ways. It could be in the form of infrastructural change like good road network, constant supply of energy. Any form of transformation contemplated must be carried out within a legitimate or lawful legal order.”
Earlier, in an address, LAWSAN President, NOUN, Kaduna Study Centre, Iroha Emmanuel told the gathering that the law week was the first of its kind in NOUN, North-west zone, adding that it was targeted at exposing the students to the legal world and an opportunity to interact with seasoned legal luminaries.
