Soldiers, Amotekun rescue kidnapped travellers in Ondo 

Gunmen, weekend, attacked an 18-seater bus, kidnapping an unspecified number of travellers on the Ikare- Irun Akoko -Ado Ekiti highway in Ondo state.

The incident was reported to have occurred at Irun Akoko/ Imesi Ekiti axis of the road on Saturday at 6pm.

 Sources said the abducted victims are from Irun Akoko, Ikare Akoko and Ekiti communities. It was also gathered that soldiers and men of Amotekun corps from Ekiti and Ondo states with the cooperation of the local vigilantes are currently combing the forests to rescue the victims.

The Amotekun commander in Ondo state, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, said, “Men of Amotekun corps and soldiers from Ekiti state  are combing the forest, but the hoodlums did not kidnap the 18 passengers in the bus.

“Some of the passengers escaped themselves while our men along with soldiers recovered some of the victims in the night. Our men have combed the forest as we speak,” he stated.
