Nasarawa guber: Tribunal admit documents, adjourns sitting to Friday


The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital has adjourned its sitting to Friday for continuation of hearing after admitting documents.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate David Ombugadu had challenged the declaration of Abdullahi Sule as the winner of the March 18th governorship election in Nasarawa state at the tribunal, alleging irregularities in some local government areas.

At the resume hearing of the case on Thursday, in Lafia, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials submitted electoral documents from Awe and Lafia local government areas based on request by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counsel.

However, All Progressives Congress (APC) counsel and that of governor Abdullahi Sule objected to the admissibility of documents and reserved their objection till final addresses.

The adjournment was to enable the counsel to the petitioner, Jibrin Samuel, compare his list of schedule of documents and the list of the Subpoena documents tendered by INEC.

He argued that some witnesses Subpoena which were brought to the court some documents tendered were complete while some were incomplete which he sought for more time to goes through the documents.

Chairman of the tribunal Ezikeil Ajayi adjourned the sitting to Friday 14th July 2023.
