My reelection “ll bridge a challenged past – Obaseki

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state, Thursday, said the state is taking the lead in the onerous task of restoring faith in Nigeria’s democracy “and the entire globe”.
He disclosed that his electoral victory also offers an opportunity for him  “to bridge the gap between a challenged past and a promising future.”

According to him, “My reelection during the September 19, 2020 governorship poll was the restoration of confidence in democracy and its institutions.”

Obaseki said the election has become a point of reference “on how the will of the people can triumph in a democracy that functions properly.”
The governor stated this at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, venue of his swearing-in ceremony for a second term of four years.
Obaseki was administered his oath of office alongside his deputy, Hon. Phillip Shaibu, by the state Chief Judge, Justice Esther Edigin.
The ceremony had in attendance,  Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, governors of Delta and Sokoto states respectively.

Continuing, the Edo governor said: “My reelection represents a new hope and I see myself as a vessel in the redefinition of democracy in Nigeria and I’m not unaware of the enormous responsibility.”
