Make Nigeria proud again, Gusau tells Super Eagles ahead of AFCON 2023

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has charged Nigeria’s Super Eagles to be resolute and win 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Reacting to the AFCON draw which pitched Nigeria against host Cote d’ivoire, Guinea Bissau and Equitorial Guinea while speaking to the team in Portugal before their friendly match versus Saudi Arabia on Friday, said no team should be an impediment to Super Eagles’ hunt for another African glory.

He said the Nigerian will be battle ready to face any team in their pursuit of a 4th AFCON title on the continent.

He told Super Eagles, “AFCON will surely commence in January by the grace of God, which you are also going to be part of it.

“You have seen our group, which we have even found ourselves with the host country, but that is not the case, we are going there to win the trophy, so we are ready to meet any country along the road.”

Alhaji Gusau also assured that the players, in collaboration with the entire technical crew will be exposed to a conducive camping before the team will embark on the trip to Abidjan for the commencement of the tournament.

“We are making every arrangements to use the available time we have before the commencement of the nations cup to ensure that we have good preparation in the area of camping in a very conducive place before we’ll move to Abidjan.

“That I can assure you we will do our best in collaboration with your coach and other handlers to ensure we get you a befitting place where you can camp before the commencement of the tournament,” he said.

Nigeria is in group D alongside Cote D’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau for the continental soccer showpiece.
