Kingmakers turban new Ohimege-Igu of Koton-Karfe Akawu Salihu

Koton – Karfe, the headquarters of Kogi local government area of Kogi state was on Tuesday evening agog as thousands of well-wishers trooped to the residence of the new Ohimege-Igu of Koton-Karfe to witness the turbanning of the new royal father of the Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Alhaji  Saidu Akawu Salihu.

The new Ohimege-Igu, who arrival at his residence in a white BMW car around 3:30pm, was greeted by the jubilant crowd that had been waiting.

The turbanning ceremony which was carried out by the kingmakers at the Odaki Ruling House, was witnessed by the Chief Imam of Koton-karfe, Alhaji Musa Yakubu Liman.

Addressing the mammoth crowd shortly after the turbanning, His Royal Majesty,  the Ohimegye-Igu Kotonkarfe, Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu, popularly known as SAS, urged the people to unite and see themselves as one for the development of the Kingdom.

He promised to carry all the people along in order to ensure that there is peace across the land.

The Kogi state government had on Monday announced the appointment of Saidu Akawu Salihu as the new Ohimege-Igu of Koton-Karfe after the dethronement of Alhaji Abdulrazak Isa Koto by Governor Yahaya Bello.

Isa-Koto, who was deposed and banished from the kingdom on Monday,  ascended the throne in 2012 as the 23rd Ohimege of Koton-Karfe after the demise of Alhaji Shaibu Mamman Lafia earlier.
