Kebbi govt plans container depot at Lolo village

Kebbi state government, in collaboration with the federal government, has planned to establish an Inland Container Depot at Lolo village in Bagudo local government area of the state to improve economic activities in the area.

Governor Sa’idu Usman Dakingari , who disclosed this in Birnin Kebbi recently, said the depot would be centered on the growing movement of goods around Republic of Benin, Niger and Nigeria.

“Most especially the movement from Cotonou of goods and materials as well the various economic activities that are linked to that trade, such as supply of vehicles, building materials and so on,” he said.
Dakingari further said the government was committed to ensuring that trans-border trades between the three nations were maintained.

In a related development, the governor has approved the construction of Dirin Daji market in Sakaba local government area of Zuru Emirate.

The council chairman, Barrister Ibrahim Mohammed, who made this known while speaking to newsmen recently, said the market would be expanded in order to accommodate the many traders that come to transact businesses every week.

He thanked the governor for granting the council approval to effect the construction of structures that included market stall, shops and fencing, adding that the whole idea was to boost commercial activities in the area.
According to him, majority of the people in the area are farmers and giving the market a facelift would in no small measure help them grow more food.
