Kano to establish Hisbah academy — Sheikh Daurawa 

The Commander-General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa has disclosed plans by the Kano state government to establish Hisbah academy.

Sheikh Daurawa, who spoke in Kano at a news conference,Wednesday, said the proposed plan is a collaborative effort with Bayero University Kano (BUK), Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano (YUMSUK), Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education and Aminu Kano College of Islamic Legal Studies.

The influential faith based cleric said when established, the Hisbah academy would be an institution where formal knowledge and skills pertaining to Hisbah work would be taught and certificates awarded to its graduates.

According to him, the Hisbah management has since provided rule of engagement to help operatives understand their roles and responsibilities.

Commenting on the next round of mass wedding in the state, the Commander General disclosed that the board has offered 50 slots to journalists and media workers in the next batch of the state’s mass wedding programme.

He said, following the success recorded in the last batch of the mass wedding which saw about 1,800 couples married off, the board decided to include interested members of professional groups and trade unions in the programme.

“We have given 50 slots to journalists and other members of the media who are interested in participating in the mass wedding programme,” he said.

He added that the board would also include legal practitioners and health workers in the next batch of the exercise.
