Kaduna university launches e-learning, online teaching for easy access

Kaduna sSate University (KASU) has launched an e-learning platform for all students to ease teaching and learning and ensure effective and efficient lecture delivery by the lecturers.

The Vice Chancellor, KASU, Prof. Abdullahi Musa, said the e-learning platform will reposition the university, make it very competitive among it’s peers, and grant students easy access to quality education and education materials.

“We are here to launch our state-of-the-art online platform at the Kaduna State University. KASU has undertook a participatory approach to come up with a comprehensive strategic plan document to be implemented. On top of the strategic plan is a need to adopt a technology communication that will improve the efficiency and effective for all our business processes in KASU.

“Introduction of an e-learning platform is on top of the agenda for the strategic learning process. That is why we are here to launch the e-learning platform whereby our staff and students can log in and deliver lecture for the students to access the lecture wherever they are across the world. It means our students can access lecture 24/7 regardless of the time, space or wherever they are globally. For the lecturers it means they can have more time to engage the students. They would adopt active learning rather than passive learning,” he said.

The Pro Chancellor, KASU, Malam Saidu Adamu Dikko in his address said, “we want to change the parameters of learning in the institution and we are proud to be launching the e-learning platform today. The whole idea is to make it easier for the students and lecturers to conduct their learning activities with ease using ICT and other platforms developed. This is an ongoing evolution taking place worldwide, we want this university to blaze the trail in Nigeria so that the quality of our product will improve and the competitiveness of our products will increase.

“This is a journey that will take quite sometime, we are begining with the platform to be launched today. This is a situation that is constantly changing sometime on daily basis. We are assuring all stakeholders that we will be abreast to ensure that we will be updating the platform to make it one of the best in Nigeria and worldwide. There are so many contributors to this endeavour but my plea to the users especially our lecturers is that they have to embrace it fully because they are the content producers.

“To the students, this is going to be a new ball game, latch onto it so that it can improve your performance and knowledge. Over time, we will show those lagging behind and those excelling. We want KASU to become reference point for effective e-learning platform within the Nigeria academic system. We want other universities, other institutions to be coming here to interact with us on how we did it. We would be willing to share the knowledge and become partners with other institutions and Nigeria will become the beneficiary. This is the beginning of a journey that all participants will be proud to associate with.”
