I was mad to see my half-nude pictures on social media – Rahma Sadau

At the time of filing in this report there was tension and plans by some youth in Kaduna and Kano over their alleged attempt to string up controversial Kannywood star, Rahma Sadau, over her recent half-nude pictures that appeared on social media.

This is not the first time the Kaduna-based Hausa actress is running into troubled waters; she had been thrice suspended by Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN), on one occasion for kissing a Benue state-based hip-hop singer on social media. On the other two occasions she was similarly suspended for insubordination and breach of MOPPAN Constitution.

King of Kannywood Ali Nuhu and Rahma Sadau’s godfather took her to some media houses during which she tendered open apology to the then Emir of Kano and the entire Northern Muslim fraternity. Consequently, the Director of Kano Films and Censorship Board, Ismail Naabba Afakallah, helped to lift the suspension. In a twist of fate, that incident opened doors of success for her and since then she has become one of the richest Hausa actresses in the North.

However, last week, Rahma posted five half-nude pictures on her social media page; some critics took to the social media to blast her. In this brief chitchat, Rahma spoke to ALIYU ASKIRA on these and other issues.

Who actually posted your nude pictures on social media? I asked this question because the pictures were posted on your official page.

I have tendered an open apology to Nigerian Muslims, Ulamas, my parents and the society at large; I was the one in the pictures as such there is no way I will deny it. I am really, really sorry for my action.

This is not the first time you are running into such trouble; why didn’t you learn from your past mistakes?

I attribute that to destiny, but this particular one is the worst. I saw a particular comment by a non-Muslim under one of my pictures in which he even insulted our Holy Prophet. Since I am the cause may Allah forgive me and I will use my remaining years on this earth to defend the Prophet. When French President Mr. Macron recently insulted our Prophet I was among those who fought hard to disgrace him. I am a Muslim from a decent Muslim family; you can see that I am in tears and full of regrets.

What actually was your motive in taking the half-nude pictures? Sometime ago you also posted your pictures on the social media displaying your backside in which you insisted it was naturally growing fatter and not through medication. There was a time you also confessed on social media that you were not a virgin, all these point to the fact that you are not as decent as you claim.

I started by saying that whatever happens to one in life his or her destiny; this is my destiny and there is no way I will run away from my shadows. Rahma Sadau will always remain Rahma Sadau, but quote me you will see a new born Rahma Sadau in future. I am sorry again for this ugly incident.
