Nigerian Peace Corps urges peace, support for Buhari administration (3rd)

Nigerian Peace Corps has called on the youth to embrace peace and support President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

The Corps’ acting commandant-general, Dr. Mustapha Mohammed Abubakar, stated this while briefing newsmen in Abuja on the state of the nation in the aftermath of the #EndSARS protests across the country.

He noted that the “unfortunate” incident was an eye opener that the hardships affecting the citizens were adopted as a game to paint “our dynamic president black.”

He said, “Despite various gimmicks deployed by #EndSARS and police brutality protesters, political opponents took undue advantage to cause mayhem to our fragile democratic process, hijacked it and started sponsoring hoodlums to disorganise the peace of this country and her people.

“I appeal to everyone to be weary of political interest groups so that our future is not prematurely truncated.

This nation belongs to the youth; don’t forget the old saying that we are the leaders of tomorrow. What shall we take care of, how shall we lead if we destroy this country by ourselves.

“Remember that Rome was not built in a day. Planning, time, efforts, pains and patience are required to bring our dreams to perfection.

Therefore, let’s be wise and say no to mischief makers working against our future and rebuild confidence in this administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Let us exercise caution not to be used by disgruntled political office seekers to our detriment and that of the country.

“I appeal to everyone to embrace peace and allow the President to carry out the plans geared towards rewriting the great name of Nigeria in the comity of nations. Peace is priceless.”
