Stakeholders seek dedicated budget line for AYHFS, nutrition

Stakeholders and clusters operating in the area of health and nutrition in the country have called on the government at all levels to provide nutrition and youth friendly health services in the country.

The group also resolved to hold decision-makers accountable on implementation of programmes and projects.

Their positions were restated at a recent meeting in Abuja convened by the Adolescent Youth Health Plus Nutrition (AYH+N) cluster anchored by Women Friendly Initiative (WFI).

Stakeholders at the meeting were HOD Information, Nimrod Vinatnayi, and Eunice Madaki, Desk Officer AYFHS.

In his opening remark at the meeting, WFI-SCALE’s project manager, Mr. Uche Aondofa Paul, called for the release of funds for the implementation of AYFHS and nutrition in the area council.

Also speaking, the monitoring and evaluation officer, Ms. Rosemary Adejoh, commended the Kuje area council officials for “creating a dedicated budget line for AYFHS and nutrition.”

She gave the assurance that it would help to address adolescent and youth health concerns and improved nutritional outcomes for women and children.

Responding, the head of personnel management, Kuje area council, Ladi Kaburuk, who represented the chairman, said though the resources are scarce the NGO should be proactive and timely in their submission “so as to facilitate quick release of funds for projects.”
