SWAN suspends Nyong, 2 others, sacks Frankie, Mansur, Ige

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has unanimously suspended three members of its National Executive Committee (NEC).

The suspended NEC members are deputy president Bonny Nyong, Vice-president South-South Azuka Raph Chiemeka and Financial Secretary Ijeoma Nwante.

SWAN also relieved South-East Vice President Frankie Omonkhua, Deputy Secretary General Lekan Ige and North-West Vice President Mansur Mohammed of their appointments.

These were part of the decisions of annual SWAN Full Council meeting attended by delegates from 33 states and FCT in Kano on Thursday night.

SWAN in a communique signed by the drafting committee Chairman Chimezie Anaso, secretary Segun Giwa, members – Chinwe Nnadozie and Mustapha Musa as well as the Secretary-General Ikenna Okonkwo among things passed a vote of confidence on Isaiah Benjamin as President of the Association and the entire NEC as presently constituted.

“Full council agreed that the needless crisis orchestrated by some misguided members of NEC had brought public embarrassment to the association, dented its corporate image which has rubbed it of immense benefits,” part of the communique said.
