Immediate past governor of Kogi state, Capt. Idris Wada, has revealed how he had to run away from the state following of threats to his life shortly after the governorship election last year.
Speaking at the PDP stakeholders’ meeting in Lokoja yesterday, Wada said he had to move abroad immediately in order to save his life due to some pockets of threats from his opponents shortly after the election.
He said “It was strategic for me to go under for sometimes because there were pockets of threats to my life, and I had to secretly relocate to the UK for about four months to save my head and also take some rest, because I was virtually working for 18 hours every day in my four years administration without rest.”
Wada, who also debunked rumour of his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission or any security organisation, denied that he was sick.
“Throughout  my four months stay in abroad, some people were rumouring that I ran away to evade arrest from the EFCC and ICPC; some even said I took ill because we lost in the election, but I want to tell you that no security organisation has so far invited me for questioning.”
The governor emphasised the need for the party members to come together ahead of 2019 governorship election in the state, maintaining that it was evident  clear now that PDP was far better than the ruling party in the state stressing that the party should forget about the past election and move on.
Earlier, the PDP state chairman, Mr. Sam Uhuotu, pleaded with members of the party not to be discouraged by the crisis rocking the national leadership of the party.
He pointed out that  the party was seriously facing financial crisis in the state, saying  there was no money to run the party secretariat, even as he pleaded with notable party members to do all they could to fund the party.
