Traders at the Sheikh Mahmud Gummi Central Market, Kaduna have been urged by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and Growth and Empowerment for States 3 (GEMS3) to register their businesses and form cooperative society to make is easy for them to access bank and government loans.
GEMS3 manager Kaduna state, Aisha Mujaddadi said, the idea is to reduce cost of doing business in Nigeria in collaboration with CAC. “We made strategies to make company registration easy and to enable people register business name without any challenge. Now people can register their business name in 24 hours.

“We started the sensitisation programme two months ago and many people register their businesses and make it legal. That would also make it easier for them to access finance from government and banks.”
The manager CAC Kaduna, Alhaji Abdullah Sani Mohammed, said the programme is a good collaboration. “Because we made it easy and simple for traders and business owners to register and since the campaign started multitude of people have come to register their businesses and they are still coming.

“The cost of business registration has also been reduced while there is no need for intermediaries such as lawyers and chattered accountants for registration of business name.”
A trader, Mrs Ruth Agbo said the programme is good as it would help them access finance while she urged traders to register their businesses and form cooperatives to make it easier for them to access finance.
Kaduna state secretary Market Traders Association, Mr James Sako urged other traders to register their businesses and join cooperatives for easy access to capital and finance.
