Ebonyi council boss sponsors surgery of tumour patient


The Chairman of Afikpo North local government area of Ebonyi state, Barr. Obiageri Oko Enyim, has funded the surgery of a resident, Nwanneka Amadi, at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku Ozalla, Enugu.
In a statement Monday by the Public Relations Officer of Afikpo North, Sunday Nkama, Miss Amadi had been living with the tumour on her right cheek for more than six years until the humanitarian intervention by the Afikpo North boss.


He said: “Our dear sister, Nwanneka Amadi, had a health challenge (tumour), which she had lived and suffered with for 6 years. The good news is that she had a very successful surgery at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku Ozalla, Enugu, following the intervention of the Chairman of Afikpo North Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. Oby Oko Enyim, to her plight.


“Recall, that as soon as the attention of Barr. Oby was drawn to Nwanneka’s health challenge, she quickly provided fund for her thorough medical examination and subsequent surgery.
“To the Glory of God, Miss Nwanneka Amadi had a successful surgery on Monday, 22nd March 2021. She is in a stable condition and doctors are pleased with her progress.
“Barr. Oby Oko Enyim has also been keeping tabs on Nwanneka’s situation, checking on her and providing logistics for  daily upkeep. God bless Barr. Oby for her quick response to the health challenge of this girl.


“We also thank all men and women of goodwill, who joined the family in prayer for a successful surgery. May God perfect everything that concerns Nwanneka, even as we look forward to her discharge from the hospital soonest.”
