Don’t falsify your age to stay in service, HoS warns nurses

The Taraba state Head of the Service (HoS) Mrs. Susan Jeremiah Nathan, has called on Nigerian nurses to retire when due and not to falsify their ages to stay in service.

Mrs Susan noted this on Sunday in Abuja at the induction of new nurses and award night organised by the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM).

She said:  “Those falsifying their age of retirement in service should go when they are due for retirement. Don’t spoil your records, you certificate can work for you anywhere.

“Say your exact age because it is sin before God to falsify your age. God that provide for you all this while will continue to do so.

“Also, as you are good, you will continue to be relevant and would be called upon to attend to one thing or another, related to your endeavour, she said.

On his part, the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Emmanuel Ehanire, represented by the Director, Nurses and midwife Services in the ministry, Mrs. Franca Okafor, commended the resolution of the friction and the current harmonious relationship between the medical doctors and nurses.

According to the minister, the relationship will help him to achieve his 9-point agenda; which is in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s target to meet the World Health Organisation (WHO) 2020 health care delivery mandate.

Also, the President, Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr. Francis Adebayo Faduyile, represented by the Vice President, NMA, Dr. Kenneth Tijo, said the current peace and harmonious relationship between the health unions is in the interest of the nation and that everyone in the health sector is important.
