Kaduna: Balarabe visits 3 general hospitals ahead of upgrading, equipping

The deputy governor of Kaduna state, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, has visited Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa General Hospital, Kafanchan to inspect the facilities as one of the six secondary health facilities selected for renovation, upgrade and equipping as model general hospitals.

Governor Uba Sani only last Saturday listed six general hospitals to be upgraded, renovated and equiped as model general hospital by his administration, following which Dr. Balarabe had earlier visited two other listed general hospitals in Giwa and Ikara. 

“The deputy governor on her visit to Kafanchan was accompanied by the project management team from the Ministry of Health and other senior government officials, the purpose of the visit was to assess the hospital’s basic needs and interventions. 

“This is in line with Governor Uba Sani’s decision to upgrade and equip the hospital to a standard referral secondary facility.

“The hospital, which is one of the six selected for upgrade, is a crucial part of Senator Uba Sani’s commitment to enhancing access to high-quality healthcare in the state,” a Kaduna state government statement stated on Wednesday. 

Speaking on her visit to Giwa and Ikara, the statement said, “Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, conducted a thorough inspection of General Hospital Giwa and Ikara, two of the six secondary health facilities selected for renovation, upgrade and equipping as model general hospitals by the Uba Sani administration.

“She was joined by the Commissioner of Health, Ummah K Ahmed, Commissioner of Housing and Urban Development, Aminu Abdullahi Shagali, and other government officials.

“At the recent town hall meeting, Governor Uba Sani announced that two general hospitals from each of the three senatorial zones will undergo upgrades, including General Hospital Ikara and Maigama in Soba in Zone One, General Hospital Rigasa in Igabi and General Hospital Giwa in Zone Two, and General Hospital Kafanchan in Jema’a LGA and General Hospital Gwantu in Sanga LGA in Zone Three.

“Governor Uba Sani has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in the health sector in alignment with the SUSTAIN agenda, with the goal of improving healthcare in the state,” the Kaduna government.”
