David Mark an incurable nationalist – Bauchi gov


Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi state has described former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, as a nationalist of proven record of meritorious services to man and country.


Senator Mohammed noted that Senator Mark’s unblemished record of public service especially as the President of the Senate of uninterrupted eight years (between 2007 and 2015) is a manifestation of his patriotism and sterling leadership credentials.


The governor showered the encomiums on Senator Mark when the latter performed the official Ground- Breaking ceremonies of Warji- Gwaram , Bogoro-Lusa and Boi- Tapshin road projects in Bauchi state on Tuesday evening.


Senator Mohammed recalled how Senator Mark’s invocation of Doctrine of Necessity saved the nation from political logjam in 2010 and stabilize the polity besides other progressive bills such as the amended 2010 Electoral Act to guarantee credible polls.
He noted that Senator Mark is a man of good character and credibility saying, “In 2015, when the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) lost the presidential election, scores of party members defected to the All Progressives Party ( APC) for want of patronage but he ( Mark) remained steadfast in his commitment to the PDP.


“Mark told the nation then that he remains the last man standing for the PDP and would stay back to rebuild the party . Events afterward vindicated him as the man who saw tomorrow.“
Performing the ground – breaking ceremonies, Senator Mark praised Mohammed’s administration for infrastructure development especially aggressive approach to road networks.
The former Senate President urged the Governor to sustain the giant strides even as he told him to ensure fairness and equity in the distribution of social amenities in the state.


He also enjoined the citizens of the state to give the Governor the needed support and cooperation in order to actualize the dreams of total transformation.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Bogoro local government area , Mr. Iliya Habila, thanked the governor for life changing projects just as he urged him to extend projects to areas yet to be reached.
One of the roads, the Boi-Tapshin project links Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa local government areas of the state to Pankshin and Kanke local government areas of Plateau state, thus enhancing inter – state businesses and social relationships.


Chairman of the state House of Assembly Committee on Works, Yusuf Inuwa Dadiye, pledged the Cooperation of the Legislature with the executive in order to facilitate the delivery of democratic dividends to the citizenry.
He promised that the legislature would always make laws for good governance needed to accelerate socio economic development of the state.
