A governorship aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has provided support to Edo community in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja through the Association of Edo State Indigenes Abuja (AESIA).
The donation according to him, was part of his efforts to cushion the effect of COVID-19 and its restrictions on the people.
The Association of Edo State Indigenes Abuja, with office domiciled in Edo House, Central Business District, Abuja, is the umbrella body representing all affiliate Edo associations in the FCT.
AESIA had embarked on what it described as a ‘humanitarian advocacy crusade’ aimed at creating awareness on the disease and offering relief to identified Edo sons affected by the restrictions.
Ize-Iyamu said: “The objective of offering relief to our people wherever they may be in the country, and even beyond, at this difficult time is something we take with utmost seriousness.
“To achieve this, we have partnered with reputable NGOs and other interest groups for unprejudiced identification of affected persons and onward distribution of relief items.
“As data from NCDC shows, Abuja is second only to Lagos in terms of the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 and so, we understand the toll this may have on our people.
“We believe reaching out to them at this hour and reassuring them that they are not forgotten is both the responsible and humane thing to do.”
